These photographs were made during personal visits to the West Bank, Jordan, and the surrounding region — places steeped in millennia of history, where Petra, Jerash, and Wadi Rum stand alongside the complexities of modern life. I traveled without political agenda, drawn by the historical sites and ruins, and equally moved by the warmth and hospitality of the people I met. When I began sorting the images, I realized I had been photographing what was then the present. That present is now the past — hence the title.
